It is with great sadness I have to report that Chinese Alan suffered an horrific injury whilst playing football at the weekend …. to wit a dislocation and triple fracture of his ankle …. ooouuuccchhhh!!!!

He is putting on a brave face and currently entertaining the nursing staff at the Lister Hospital whilst awaiting some kind of reconstructive surgery.

Chinese was looking really comfortable with the bat at nets last week and in fine spirits. We hope he will be back on his feet and able to don his whites and turn out for Munden later in the season.

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Alan for a speedy and full recovery.

Winter nets are being held on Wednesdays at the HEC centre near Sawbridgeworth, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Most of you will have attended at some point last season.

Six players turned up for the first session on Wednesday 27th January. This represented a break-even point financially and of equal importance, was a viable number for a worthwhile practise session.

This week there were only 3 of us – Dave B, Dave M and Chris. Phippsy let us know he couldn’t make it due to work commitments. Where were the rest of you?

We lost money on the night, and at times only had one bowler when the other was padding up – not great!

It would be good if you could leave a comment below to let us know if you can, or cannot attend the next session (Wednesday 10th) because if there are only 2 of us, we will have to turn round and come home and the club will lose money.
