The weather and lack of bodies has put an end to any chance of practice at Green End today.

We look forward to a good turn out on Thursday

We had a good turn out for nets on Thursday but the feeling was that it would be good to keep up the momentum and have a further nets session (possibly out on the strip) this Saturday starting at 1 pm.

The weather forecast is iffy. Boycie, Ashley and Dave M will probably be at the ground come what may, it would be good if others could join us weather permitting.

A big thanks to the guys from Hare Street CC and everyone who turned up for Sunday’s friendly.

Sadly the weather intervened and although Munden got to bat through their 40 overs (151 for 9) Hare street only faced 8 overs before the weather brought play to an end.

It was a good work out for the Munden batsmen although it is apparent that we are a bit ring rusty.

The highlight of the day was Will’s hard hitting smash and grab of an innings. Also thanks to Luke (captain of Aspenden) who more than made up the numbers for the Munden side and produced an impressive batting performance of his own.

We will have nets this Thursday as usual and reprepresentatives of the club will attend the Parish Council meeting after to give them an update on the club’s ambitions for the coming season.

There is a suggestion that Gareth may be able to get a team together for another friendly this Saturday. As yet, nothing is confirmed so please check this site regularly for updates.

Can all players please inform us of their availability for Saturday (if it is viable) by leaving a comment below ….

So far we have:

Dave M. ….. sad and lonely ūüė¶

D.E.U. are playing in a cup final at the Hertford F. C. ground starting at 7:30 this evening. Good luck to Phippsy, Dave B, Tom and Mark (the LMCC contingent) and the rest of the team.

This does mean that the turnout this evening will be too small to make nets viable and so no cricket will be played.

Boycie will be at Green End to do some more work on the strip and Badger will also make an appearance.

We will still be at the ground doing preparation so if anyone wants to come along and lend a hand we’d be grateful.

The weather forecast for Sunday is not great Рbasically rain throughout the day ranging from light showers to heavy downpours. The forecast tends to change from day to day so we will continue with the intention of playing the game for the time being. Keep an eye on this website for updates.

Just to remind everyone we have outdoor nets again this Thursday starting at 6:30.

Phippsy has arranged the usual 1:30 start with the Hare Street captain for Sunday’s friendly

There are still players who haven’t¬†stated their availability. We need to know¬†if you can’t play as well as if you can –¬†it is up to every player who wishes to be a part of the team to communicate with the captain – or via this website using the ‘Player Availability’ tab at the top of the page.

There are¬†a couple of jobs to be done on the ground before Sunday’s game ….. ¬†it shouldn’t all be left to Boycie. We could do these at nets on Thursday, some time on Saturday or before the friendly on Sunday.

Ahmed attended the Captain’s Meeting on Monday night (6th April) and Dave M stayed on for the Annual Spring Meeting that followed.

Not much to report really. There was a plea for the Captains to maintain the high standards of behaviour expected for cricket played at our level and a few other matters were aired relating to clubs paying their fees and registering Child Welfare Officers – Munden has all it’s paperwork in place.

There followed a few words from the Essex and Hertfordshire cricket development officers, and next Luke (our very accommodating friend who runs the indoor nets) spoke as sponsor of the HECL and extended an offer of half price indoor nets for the month of April to all members.

The meeting concluded at 9:45.

It just remained for Badger to collect the balls, books, team cards¬†and posters for the coming season, down a pint of Navigator and stumble back through the rain to his car ūüėõ

Thanks to Boycie, Ashley, Dave B, Dave P, Chris, Martin and Badger for turning out on Saturday and doing such a fine job.

We now have a fully functioning stile; the boundary hedging has been trimmed back (thanks to Martin & his magic wand); the white liner cleaned; the strips have been marked out; pavilion cleaned and the fine mesh fencing reinstated.

There will probably one or two small jobs needed before we start the season proper – perhaps they can be carried out before/after the pre-season friendly on the 20th April.
